BWA’s design expands the property with flexible indoor and outdoor spaces, and elements that showcase tribal culture and tradition
BWA partnered with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe to deliver a 12,000+ square foot expansion of the Elwha River Casino, designed to double the venue’s size and introduce flexible, multi-use spaces that enhance guest experience and operational versatility. Nestled in the scenic Elwha River Valley, the property’s design draws inspiration from its natural surroundings, incorporating wood, stone, and flowing light fixtures that echo the movement of water and honor the land. The result is a culturally rich, highly adaptable venue that supports both community connection and economic growth.
Key additions include a transformable restaurant and lounge with live entertainment capabilities, and a covered outdoor dining area that doubles the capacity of the restaurant and entertainment area. A traditional Salmon Bake structure—crafted from natural materials and inspired by a tribal cedar hat—also serves as a ceremonial and educational space for tribal gatherings and guest engagement.
Another of the tribe’s goals was to make its newly expanded venue more educational, with opportunities for patrons to learn about Elwha tribal culture and traditions. Elwha tribal elements and artwork are incorporated throughout the design, and signage throughout the facility includes the tribe’s traditional language. The design elements showcase the pride the tribe has in their property and its importance to overall tribal success.
