Elevated buffet design showcases the rituals of food preparation and a classic Las Vegas dining experience in a strikingly modern upscale setting

The modern casino entertainment guest experience demands more than traditional dining; the buffet is no longer “business as usual.” BWA, in collaboration with Interior Designer Super Potato, first transformed a former café into the groundbreaking Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace, which opened in September 2012. This initial, award-winning design fundamentally redefined the expectations for a high-end Las Vegas buffet.

The architectural layout puts the culinary process on full display, treating it as theatrical entertainment. Guests enjoy a dynamic experience with views into nine exhibition kitchens, each designed to highlight the artistry of master chefs at work. The creative process of food preparation becomes a central part of the show.

The sprawling dining area is thoughtfully segmented into three distinct, themed environments—glass, wood, and steel—offering unique atmospheres. The glass-themed seating section is a study in shimmering transparency. Guests are enveloped in a light-filled space framed by sparkling chandeliers and layers of colored glass partitions, with spectacular views of the pools and gardens. The wood-themed section is designed to evoke the feeling of sitting beneath a canopy, this area features richly patterned walls and ceilings created from approximately 9,500 wood blocks, adding warmth and natural texture to the dining experience. The steel-themed seating section is a bold, industrial aesthetic that is achieved through the artful utilization of reclaimed and repurposed metal plates in a variety of finishes, giving this section a distinctive, modern edge. Crowning the central seating zone is a stunning focal point: a suspended glass shelving display featuring 3,607 glass spice jars, adding visual drama and sensory intrigue to the heart of the operation.

In 2020, BWA returned to update the space, partnering with designer Tetsuo Aoyagi of Tokyo’s MUKU Design Studio. This remodel reimagined the Seafood, American and Latin stations of the Bacchanal Buffet, elevating them into a contemporary, upscale culinary showcase.

This refreshed design has successfully solidified Bacchanal’s position as the premium buffet destination in Las Vegas. The project’s enduring success is measured not only by its aesthetic impact but also by its operational performance, with strong profits and long guest lines validating the powerful combination of exceptional food offerings and great design.
